The Naas Roads Policing Unit were on patrol recently and conducted a speed enforcement checkpoint along a busy road in the town.
From here, this motorcyclist was detected travelling at 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, with a garda spokesperson saying, “This level of speed is not just reckless — it is dangerous driving.”

Commenting on the arrest, the spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Kildare said, “Let this serve as a stark warning. Driving at excessive speeds puts lives at risk — not only your own, but innocent road users, pedestrians, and families.”
If convicted of dangerous driving, the motorcyclist can face severe consequences such as a mandatory court appearance, possible driving disqualification of up to two years, significant fines, imprisonment of up to six months and a criminal conviction which can impact both employment and travel opportunities.
“Speed limits are there for a reason — to save lives. There is no excuse for this behaviour. We will continue to target those who choose to ignore the law and endanger others. Slow down. Stay alive,” the spokesperson concluded.
