A moped has been seized in Kildare after its rider was found to be breaking several road laws.
Whilst out on patrol, members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit encountered what they first described as an "unknown vehicle" travelling in the middle of the road on Thursday, January 29.
As Gardaí approached, it became clear that this vehicle was a moped. No lights were displayed, despite travelling in darkness, and both the rider and their passenger were dressed head-to-toe in dark clothing.

Gardaí called this "a serious collision waiting to happen."
Upon stopping the moped, it was found to have no tax, no insurance and no NCT/MOT. The rider claimed to have a licence but could not produce it to Gardaí.
Following these serious breaches, the vehicle was seized and fixed charge penalties were issued.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in the county said on social media, "Court appearances to follow for No Insurance - Dangerous Driving. This type of reckless behaviour puts lives at risk — not just those on the moped, but every other road user.
"If you’re on the road, be legal, be visible, be insured. We will continue to take action against dangerous and uninsured driving. Road safety is not optional," they concluded.
