Litter dumpers in one County Kildare region were criticised by a councillor at a recent Kildare County Council (KCC) meeting.
The criticism came from Fianna Fáil councillor Brian Dooley at the latest Athy Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Monday, March 16 last.

He appeared at this meeting by virtual means.
Cllr Dooley's criticism arose following the submission of a motion in his name, in which he requested KCC to roll out "the installation of CCTV cameras in the MD, similar to those in Edmund Rice Square, in areas with high levels of illegal dumping".
His motion was supported by his party colleague, Cllr Veralouise Behan.
'LOOK POSITIVELY'
In response to Cllr Dooley's motion, KCC said via the report it submitted at the meeting: "KCC will look positively at the rollout of CCTV at selective locations within the MD in consultation with the members.
"The members are reminded that any such deployment is subject to the national guidelines / code of practice pertaining to the prevention, detection and prosecution of waste and litter offences using CCTV, as well as the availability of funding," KCC added.
Moreover, a representative for KCC told the members that they would be willing to meet with them in order to discuss littering issues further.

Cllr Dooley in turn replied that he was "delighted" by the answer, and criticised recurrent occurrences of dumping in the MD, which he said was being caused by "idiots".
He also admitted to the attendees: "I want to use a stronger word to describe them."
Cllr Dooley further said: "To be honest, it's no harm if a couple of them go to jail."
He concluded by thanking KCC for looking into the matter.
