The theft of jewellery from a County Kildare premises has led to a garda investigation.

The incident was detailed by Garda William Barry when he appeared as a guest on a KFM radio programme on Wednesday, August 6 last.

He explained that the crime took place at a property in Maganey (which is located near Castledermot and Athy) sometime between 9pm on Saturday, August 2 last and 2.15am on Sunday, August 3 last.

According to Gda Barry, a sum of cash and jewellery (specifically, a ring, bracelet and a chain), were stolen from the premises.

He added that anyone with information about this incident, or CCTV footage related to the incident, can contact Castledermot Garda Station on 059 863 4210.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this particular crime, a garda spokesperson replied: "Gardaí are currently investigating reports of a burglary at a residential property in Athy, County Kildare on August 3, 2025.

"The occupant returned home to discover the house had been burgled and immediately alerted local gardaí.

"Garda Scene of Crime Officers have conducted an examination of the property and investigations are ongoing."

The spokesperson concluded by saying: "No further information is available at this time."
