A fancy dress-themed football match will take place later this month in order to raise funds for the Newbridge and Kildare branch of Samaritans Ireland.
Explaining the inspiration behind the event, Newbridge United Football Club, who will host the match, said: "The Samaritans are an essential service, but most people don't realise that they are entirely self funded, so it would be fantastic if everyone could pop in on the day, even for just a few minutes, to help us raise as much as possible for these fantastic people.
"We are also hoping in the coming weeks to have some volunteers from the Samaritans come out to Corrigan Park [in Newbridge] and have a talk with some of our members, highlighting just what it is the Samaritans do and why they are so important.
"We will also have details up in the coming days of how to donate to the club in aid of the Samaritans."
The club concluded: "100 per cent of all money raised will be donated [to the Samaritans]."
The match will take place on June 19, 2025 and will commence at 11.30am.
