Kildare motorist faces court appearance for no insurance

The motorist was stopped at a checkpoint in Rathangan, Co Kildare
Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted a proactive ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) checkpoint in Rathangan, Co Kildare and stopped a vehicle after an alert indicated it was being driven without valid insurance.
Checks confirmed the insurance policy had been cancelled in December 2025.
The vehicle was subsequently seized and removed from the road.
The vehicle has been impounded and the driver will now face a court appearance for driving without insurance.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Uninsured drivers place every road user at risk and can leave innocent people facing devastating financial and personal consequences following a collision.
“If you choose to drive without insurance, expect to be detected and brought before the courts.”
