Kildare motorists ‘forced to drive the wrong way up a one way street’

Kildare County Council has ben told to apologise for closing a traffic route near Naas town centre.

Naas-based independent councillor Seamie Moore wants KCC to apologise and provide an explanation because machinery was allowed to work at “late evening time” on a road project in the Abbey Street area, near the Moat Theatre.

According to Cllr Moore the work at Town Hall Lane “closed off the only exit and entrance to the residents of Abbey Street, Abbey Hill, Abbey Bridge and the canal area “for several hours.”

He said this forced motorists to “drive against the flow of traffic up the ‘one way only’ Moat Lane.”

He said they were “using their flashing lights as their only safety protection in this highly dangerous manoeuvre.”
