Kildare County Council (KCC) has assured a councillor that it is 'pursuing all outstanding derelict site levies.'

The comments were made by KCC at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which was held on Wednesday, December 13 last.

Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer asked KCC to confirm if all derelict site fees have been paid in 2021, 2022 and 2023 in the MD.

Through its report, KCC replied to the Newbridge-based Cllr's question by telling her that it 'continues to pursue all outstanding derelict site levies.'

Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer brought the topic to the county council's attention.

KCC explained: "Information on derelict site fees are reflected in the council’s Annual Financial Statement.

"Details are currently being finalised for this year’s Statement."

KCC also said: "Currently, there are ten sites on the derelict sites register that sit within the Kildare-Newbridge MD."

A representative for KCC added: "The short answer is no, but we will chase up all fees that are not yet paid.

"If there is any particular concern for a specific site that the councillors may have, they can contact the council."
