Accused of making criminal damage threat to property in Kildare town

ALLEGATION
UPDATE: On Thursday, February 15, 2024, Judge Desmond Zaidan was told by gardaí that the charge against Mr Kane was being withdrawn by the State.
A man has been accused of making a threat to cause criminal damage to a property in Kildare town.
The allegation relates to Michael Kane, with an address listed as 3466 Lakeside Park in Newbridge, but who is currently remanded in custody.
The 31-year-old appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan via video-link at Naas District Court on Thursday, October 5 last.
It was alleged by gardaí that on September 19 last, Mr Kane made the threat at a property located in Coolaghknock Gardens in The Plains, Melitta Road, Kildare town.
Both Mr Kane and his defending barrister, Mark Gibbons, stressed to the judge that they wished to have the case dealt with as urgently as possible, as Mr Kane is in custody on this charge.
In response, Judge Zaidan told the accused that the investigation file is still with the State, and as such, there were no directions yet from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The judge added: "However, I will impress on the State to give your case priority, within reason, because you’re in custody (on this charge)."
The case will resume on October 19.
DPP directions are expected on this date.
