Ballymore drama is back in the Bandhall

Ballymore Eustace Dramatic Society (BEDS) will stage the Lonesome West on Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 March next in the Band Hall, Ballymore Eustace.

Written by Martin McDonagh who is so in the news at the moment given the success of the Banshees of Inisherin, this is one that is definitely not to be missed.

Back on stage will be thespians George Guing, Robert Farrelly and Martin Byrne and God knows, if you’ve seen any of BEDS previous performances, you will know these three are seriously dynamic on stage.

There has been great chemistry between them in various plays — they’re all bloody good actors and have comedic acting and great timing!

First staged by the Druid Theatre Company In 1997, the play combines manic energy and physical violence in a way that is both hilarious, exciting and tragic.

Directed by Bernie Guing, her daughter Kate is Girleen, the only female role.

Valene and Coleman are two brothers living alone in their fathers’ house after his death, find it impossible to exist without massive and violent disputes over the most mundane and innocent of topics.

Only Father Welsh, the young local priest is prepared to try and reconcile the two before their petty squabbles spiral into a vicious and bloody carnage (all very typical of McDonagh’s writing).

Pay at the door on the night, €12, concessions for OAPs.
