Cinderella comes to town

Stage 2 Performing Arts School presents Cinderella and Magical Musicals at the Town Hall in Kilcullen on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 June. Doors open for a 7pm start. Tickets are available from just €10 euros each. To book call Maryclare 087 9011405.

Thoughts and prayers

The Kilcullen scouts group and extended network of friends and families pass on their best wishes to the Swayne family – a difficult time for you all, but you’re strong and you’ll pull through. Don’t forget to lean on your friends in scouting when you need to – there is no ask too big!

Drama Dynamics Summer Stage

This very popular summer camp returns for another week of fun running from Monday July 9 to Friday July 13, from 10am to 2pm each day.

The camp takes place in the Solas (formerly the Kilcullen tennis club) with a performance for all the family in the Town Hall Theatre in Kilcullen at the end of the week.

Camphill open day

Kilcullen’s sister community in Dunshane is holding an open day on Sunday June 24 from 2pm. There’ll be something for everyone - games, bric a brac, treasure hunts, sheep racing and foods from round the world.

The communities live an almost self-sufficient life and allow people from different back grounds and with different abilities to work and live together with everyone having a meaningful and positive input in the society.

Art Camp

An art camp and workshops for 5 to 12 year olds will be held with a qualified artist in the Kilcullen community centre from the July 9 to 13 and from July 16 to 20. This is a chance for boys and girls to nurture their artistic creativity and have fun.

All materials will be supplied and activities will include painting, drawing, clay modeling, printing, collage and more.

There are two options; 10am to 12pm for €45/ child/week or 10am to 2pm for €85/child/week. For more details or to book a place call 087 9729611.

Summer Soccer Schools

The Summer Soccer Schools for boys and girls aged 6 to 14 years will be held in the Kilcullen community centre from July 9 to 13 and from July 16 to 20.

Whether you’re new to the game of football or a seasoned campaigner at your local club the eflow FAI summer soccer schools are for you.

The camps run from 10.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 5 whole days packed with top-quality coaching.

If you’re a goalkeeper our specialized goalkeeper camps run for 2 or 3 days at weekends or on weekday evenings.

The organisers are proud of the highest standards of child safety and welfare maintained on the camps, with constant supervision and garda vetting of all coaches - coaches are all FAI accredited - and there is a low ratio of coaches to participants.

All participants will receive an eflow FAI summer soccer schools full Umbro kit, backpack and football, along with a certificate at the end of the week.

Collection for animals

The Kildare and West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held its annual collection in Kilcullen on Thursday June 14. Despite the bad weather, the Society raised over €700 and would like to thank all those who gave so generously and also to the collectors.

A special thankyou goes to Nolan’s Butchers and Eurospar Supermarket for allowing them to collect outside their premises and they would also like to thank the other traders in Kilcullen who collected for them on the day.

KWWSPCA is a registered charity established in 1940 to prevent animal cruelty and is affiliated to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA).

Along with the increased population of County Kildare and West Wicklow, there has been a corresponding increase in the number of suspected and actual cases of neglect and outright cruelty to animals, as well as an increase in road and other accidents involving animals.

Walking Group

The walking group meets every Monday and Wednesday evenings at The High Cross Inn Moone at 8pm. Participants are invited to donate €1 a night in support of St. Brigid’s Hospice, Kildare.

All gone batty

A Bats Talk will take place on Friday June 22 in Kilcullen with guest speaker Dr Tina Aughney and the following morning there’s a Bird/ Wildlife Walk, both events taking place as part of the Biodiversity Survey under way on the Liffey and other waterways in Kilcullen.
