Tributes have been paid to a Leixlip, Co Kildare “true gentleman” fondly remembered for his “great sense of humour.”
Chris (Christopher) Colgan – Leixlip, Kildare / Glasnevin, Dublin 11 / Shandon Crescent, Phibsboro, Dublin 7 – passed on February 18 2026.
Chris is the beloved husband of Celia and much-loved father of Susan, Joanne, Maria and John; he will be sadly missed by his loving wife, son, daughters, grandchildren Sophie, Seán, Stephanie, Harry and Sarah, sons-in-law Ciarán, Mark and Henry, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
May he rest in peace.

Chris will be reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Celbridge on Friday evening (February 20) between 5 pm and 7 pm.
The removal will take place on Saturday morning (February 21) to The Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip arriving for Funeral Mass at 10 am followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

A true gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
And: “So sad to hear of the passing of Chris. Chris was a very good character and person to have on my Leixlip Utd team! Thanks Chris! Sincere condolences to all the Colgan family & friends.”
While another mourner wrote: “Deepest sympathy to Celia, Joanne, Susan, Maria, John & extended families. Very sorry to hear this sad news. I have very fond memories of your dad. He was very calm had a great sense of humour, you were always made feel very welcome when visiting. It is a huge loss for you all. May he Rest in Peace.”
And another added: “I would like to express my sincere sympathy to the Colgan FAMILY on the death of Chris RIP I am THINKING OF YOU ALL especially Joanne at this very difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
