Tributes paid to 'great character' from Kildare town who passed recently

A resident of Kildare town who passed last week has been fondly remembered as 'a great character.'

Peter Lynch, Grangebeg, Kildare Town, Kildare passed on February 5 2026.

Peter is predeceased by his parents Peter (Pete) and Liz, brothers Michael and Tom and his sister Alice.

Peter will be deeply missed by his loving family; sister Mary, brother in law Paddy, sister in law Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

May Peter's Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Kildare Funeral Home (Eircode R51 H278) on Tuesday February 10 from 6pm-9pm with Rosary Recital at 8pm.

A Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday February 11 at 11am in St. Brigid's Parish Church Kildare Town, followed by interment in St. Conleth's Cemetery Kildare.

Tributes paid to Peter on RIP.ie include: “Sincere sympathy to all the Lynch family, extended family and friends. I knew Peter well for many years. We drank in Top Nolans. His red VW Beetle parked outside. He had a great laugh. Playing cards was always a lively affair! Both he and Tom played for Ellistown. Peter played full forward and goalkeepers all got to know Peter well!! He was a great character we all will miss him. May Peter rest in peace.”

And: “Deepest condolences to Peter's family. Peter was far more than a client to me, he became family. I will forever cherish our chats, his kindness, and the trust he placed in me. My oul flower.. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. Rest in eternal paradise P x”

While another mourner wrote: “Deepest Condolences to Mary, Pat, Liz, and the Lynch family, on the sad passing of Peter, he was a great character who loved to joke around, he would pretend to be serious, and then have you laughing your head off, may his gentle soul rest in heavenly peace.”

And another added: “We are so sorry to hear of Peter's passing so soon after Tom, may they both rest in peace. Sincere sympathy to Mary, Pat, Liz and the Flanagan Family. Peter was a great neighbour and friend to my parents. We all had such wonderful times years ago. Thinking of you all at this sad time and keeping you in our prayers.”
