RIP: Tributes paid to Kildare local fondly remembered as 'a great GAA man'

An Ardclough, Co Kildare local who passed this week has been fondly remembered as 'a great GAA man' in one of many tributes paid.

Michael (Mick) Devine, Oughterard, Ardclough, Kildare / Kill, Kildare passed peacefully on January 21 last, surrounded by his loving family in the exceptional care of the staff at Naas General Hospital.

Mick is the beloved husband of the late Essie, loving dad of Jeremy, Derek and Anna-Maria and brother of the late Ann and Marie.

He will be sadly missed by his loving children, grandchildren James, Leah, Seán, Jack, Alex-Anne and Lucy-Kate, daughter-in-law Annelise, son-in-law John, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

"May his gentle soul rest in peace."

Mick will be reposing at the family home on Friday January 23 from 4pm to 7pm with Rosary Prayers at 6:30pm.

The funeral will take place on Saturday January 24 with Requiem Mass at 10am in St. Brigid’s Church, Kill, followed by burial at St. Corban’s Cemetery, Naas.

Tributes paid to Mick on RIP.ie this week include: “Deepest sympathy to Annemarie, Jeremy and Derek on the sad passing of your dad who was a great GAA man. He is now at peace with your mam, Essie, who was a wonderful down to earth lady may their kind and gentle souls rest in peace.

And: “Sincere sympathies to the Devine family on the death of Mick. May he rest in peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences to the Devine family on the passing of Mick. May he rest in peace.”

And another added: “Our condolences to the Devine families on the death of your father and grandfather. May he rest in peace.”
