Tributes paid to 'true gentleman' from Kildare

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a Kildare 'true gentleman' who passed this week.

Fergus Casey, Celbridge, Co Kildare and formerly Leixlip, Co Kildare, passed peacefully on January 20, surrounded by his loving family in the excellent care of the staff a the Hermitage Clinic.

Fergus is the beloved husband of the late May and Margaret and much-loved father of Lylah, May, Greg and Dermot and a devoted grandfather of Alexander, Shelley, Tara, Ashley, Youssef, Anwar, Karim and Rami and an adored great-grandfather.

He is sadly missed by his loving sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including Oscar the cat.

May he rest in peace

Fergus will be reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Celbridge on Friday evening (January 23) between 5 pm and 7 pm.

The removal will take place on Saturday morning (January 24) to the church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip arriving for Funeral Mass at 10 am followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Tributes paid to Fergus on RIP.ie this week include: “Our sincere sympathy to the Casey family and extended families on the sad passing of Fergus. A gentleman with whom we had the honour of having as part of our family for many years. May his gentle soul now rest in eternal peace.”

And: “Our sincere condolences to Lylah, May, Greg, Dermot and families on the sad passing of Fergus. He was a true gentleman it was a privilege to have known him as a friend. Fergus will be sadly missed by so many. May He Rest In Peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Heartfelt condolences to Lylah, May, Greg, Dermot and all the extended families on the passing of Fergus. May he be reunited with his beloved May and Auntie Margaret and Rest in Everlasting Peace. I am so sorry I will not be there on Saturday due to commitments. '' A beautiful Gentleman" who lived a long life. R.I.P Fergus.”
And another added: “Lylah, May, Greg and Dermot and families, I am so sorry to hear about the death of your dear Dad, a gentleman in every way. May he rest in peace. Look after yourselves.”
