Kildare man remembered as 'a true gentleman'

Tributes have poured in for a Kildare man remembered as 'a man of great integrity' and 'a true gentleman.'

Brendan McDonald, Liffey Lawns, Clane, Co Kildare and late of Tullamore Co Offaly, passed peacefully on May 21 2025 at Naas General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of the late Claire, deeply regretted by his loving children Gerard and Martina, daughters-in-law Jessica and Ruth, grandchildren Henry and Alice, brothers Joe and Tom, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

May Brendan Rest In Peace.

Tributes paid on RIP.ie this week include: “So sorry to hear of Brendan's passing. He was a little nuisance when Kevin , Declan Cash and myself were playing. He was hard to shake off. May he rest in peace.”

And: “Heartfelt Sympathy to Gerard, Martina, Jessica, Ruth, Joe, Tom and the extended family on the sad death of Brendan, a man of great integrity professionally and a true gentleman and loyal friend over many years. Lovely memories come to mind of times spent with Brendan and Claire in times gone by. May they both rest together in Peace. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time.”

While another mourner wrote: “My condolences on your loss. Brendan and I were classmates at St Columba's Tullamore in the 1950s and made our First Communion together. I still have the picture. I remember a lively, energised, little boy.”

And another added: “Sincere Condolences to All the Family on the Passing of Brendan, May He Rest in Peace”

Reposing at Oliver Reilly's Funeral Home, Woods House, Clane, (W91YPX4) on Monday from 5pm - 7pm.

Removal from Oliver Reilly's Funeral Home on Tuesday at approx. 10am to arrive at St. Patrick's and St. Brigid's Church, Clane for 10.30am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Mainham Cemetery, Clane.
