Thousands of Irish fans soak up the atmosphere in Czech capital before crunch play-off

Irish fans have taken over the streets of Prague ahead of tonight's massive World Cup play-off clash with Czechia.

The Green Army has travelled in huge numbers with supporters arriving in their droves as excitement builds in the Czech capital.

Irish jerseys, flags and colours have been a constant sight around the city, with pubs and squares filling up as fans gather for what could be one of the most important nights in recent Irish football history.

There is a real sense of anticipation among supporters with Ireland just two games away from reaching the World Cup for the first time in over two decades.

While only a limited number of tickets were available for the Fortuna Arena, thousands more have made the trip regardless, determined to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on the Boys in Green from fan zones and bars across Prague.

The city's famous Old Town has become a hub for travelling supporters with Irish songs and chants echoing through the streets throughout the day.

Tonight's clash is one for the ages with Heimir Hallgrimsson's side hoping to continue their remarkable run and secure a place in a play-off final back in Dublin.

As Sportsfile's photos show, the Green Army is in full voice ahead of what promises to be a huge night for Irish football.

The match throws in at 7.45pm Irish time and will be shown live on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player, with coverage getting underway from 7pm.
