On Sunday next December 2 all roads lead to Phena Bermingham’s home on the Athy/Kilcullen road, 3 miles from Kilcullen, 10 miles from Athy. Look out for the signs and balloons and parking is inside. You, your family and friends are invited to a fundraiser in aid of Fr. John Bermingham’s mission work in Mozambique. John, Phena’s son is a Redemptorist priest and working with Fr. Brian Holmes from Cork.
They are starting a mission in Mozambique.
The afternoon commences at 2pm with music, drama, readings and dance.
Mulled wine, mince pies, tea, coffee and minerals on offer, and there is no admission charge.
A donation box is available, ‘every little helps’.

BALLYSHANNON SCHOOL NEWS
Gay O’Sullivan tells us “Construction of our new classroom and learning support room will commence shortly.”
Our Christmas Fair will take place in Ballyshannon National School on Friday next 30 November at 1.30pm.
We will have lots of lovely Christmas items for sale, cakes, buns, jams, relishes, wreaths, gifts and plenty more. We look forward to seeing you there.
Our recent book fair was a great success.

SOUTH KILDARE ACTIVE RETIREMENT MEETING
The November meeting of South Kildare Active Retired will take place at Moone Hall on Thursday November 29th at the earlier time of 7.30 p.m. This is because Eddie Hennessey of the Kildare Sports Partnership will be demonstrating the Activity Games that will be starting there in preparation for the National ‘Go For Life’ Games.
This is a new initiative for over 55’s that want to join an active retirement association but want to take part in active but not too demanding exercise.
The South Kildare branch has been chosen as the centre for the training in this area and Teams will be entered in a County - Wide Competition next year.
From those teams, County Kildare teams, will be chosen to represent the county in the All Ireland ‘Go For Life Games. Over 55’s from anywhere in South Kildare who wish to see the demonstrations and perhaps participate later are welcome.
Don’t be shy, you could win an All Ireland medal yet!
The Eastern Region of Active Retirement Ireland are holding a Christmas Lunch in the Skylon Hotel, Dublin on 7th December at 1pm.
A great afternoon of music, dancing, carol singing, Raffle, santa etc and all for €25.
All welcome and if enough interest a coach will take you there for an extra €10.

The Scouts meet in Ballyshannon hall on the following nights:- Beavers on Monday nights for ages 6 - 9 years, Cubs 9 to 11 year olds on Monday nights, Scouts 12 year olds plus on Friday nights.

Next Saturday evening, l December, St. Laurence’s Community Complex will be the place to be. Joseph Gorman, will launch “Candle On The Water”, his charity CD, in aid of the Jonathan Mulhall Trust Fund. This is a very worthwhile fundraiser and is well worth supporting.
