REPUBLICAN Sinn Féin Cill Dara is planning to hold anti-drug protests in Celbridge and Newbridge to raise awareness of what it describes as the continuing threat posed by the growth of the drug trade and the number of its victims in the County Kildare.
The Celbridge protest will be held on the path near the Roman Catholic church on Main Street this Saturday and the party, which expects to have 15 to 20 members, present, will hand out leaflets.

Damien Dillon, chairman of the party's Frank Driver branch in north Kildare, said it will also hold a protest in the Rosconnell estate in Newbridge on Saturday, 7 February.

Mr. Dillon said they belive there is an upsurge in heroin usage in county Kildare.

The party also claims a drug dealer living in Celbridge is supplying drugs to fourteen and fifteen year olds in the area.

In Celbridge, it says it is aware of people who have had 'run in' with heroin dealers. In Newbridge, it believes that the Rosconnell estate has been hit hard by problems with the drug. Two children found a syringe on the estate last year.

The party, which will be putting up Des Dalton, a brother of Fianna Fail Cllr. Mark, up for election in Athy in the local elections in June, will be distributing leaflets in Rosconnell and will be inviting residents to join in the protest.

RSF deserves much praise for organising against drugs in the North Kildare area, they enjoy my full support in that regard. The North Kildare region has over the past 15 to 20 years become a main hub for major drug dealers and it now requires determined and very vocal communities to rid areas like Robertstown of the 'drugs scum' which have moved into the area from Dublin and also of the locals who are foolish enough to take part in the evil trade. My Page at: http://uk.360.yahoo.com/greagues2 is devoted to the subject of drugs and is updated on a daily basis.
It is vital that all local communities support the anti-drugs drive in their locality.
The cost of not supporting your local community in it's campaign against drugs and the major drug dealers who reside within your communities is far too great to contemplate.
