A Kildare man flew the flag for his county at this year’s Mr Personality Festival 2026, which took place in Kilkenny over the weekend of April 10 and 11.

Jack Fennin, representing Athy Macra, was among 25 contestants from across the country who travelled to Langton’s Hotel for the annual event, a long-standing highlight of the Macra na Feirme calendar celebrating personality, confidence and talent.

Festivities got underway on Friday evening with on-stage interviews hosted by MC Aindriú du Paor, offering audiences a first glimpse of the contestants. Participants showcased their humour, character and individual talents before a night of music and entertainment continued into the early hours.

On Saturday, contestants faced private interviews with judges including Katelyn Cummins, James Kavanagh and Brian Leonard. The day also featured jiving lessons, team-building challenges and a scavenger hunt, with Jack proudly representing Kildare throughout the busy schedule of events.

The festival culminated on Saturday evening with a gala banquet, where contestants and supporters gathered for the announcement of the winners following a weekend of competition and camaraderie.

The title of Mr Personality 2026 was awarded to Patrick Walton, representing Kilkenny Macra. Joe Hennessy took second place, while Jack Murphy finished third.

Macra President Josephine O’Neill praised both organisers and participants, describing the festival as a “much-loved feature” of the organisation’s calendar and commending the high standard of this year’s contestants.

She said the event continues to showcase the best of Macra, bringing members together, building friendships and celebrating the diverse talents within the organisation.

While Jack did not place among the finalists, his participation ensured Kildare was well represented at a festival that continues to grow in popularity each year.

Organisers have encouraged those interested to follow the festival’s social media channels for highlights and updates from the weekend.
