Xeinadin Kildare to Wexford charity cycle raises over €14,000 for KARE Moorefiled Local Services, Newbridge

On Friday, August 21, teamwork, determination and community spirit were on full display during Xeinadin Ireland’s inaugural charity cycle from Xeinadin’s Kildare office to Xeinadin’s Wexford office.

The event was jointly organised by Xeinadin’s Kildare and Wexford offices, who selected KARE and It’s Good 2 Talk as the beneficiaries of the fundraising efforts. Both organisations provide invaluable services and support to individuals and families within the local communities. After months of planning, fundraising and preparation, the first riders set off from Kildare office, receiving a fantastic send-off from colleagues and service users from KARE’Ss Moorefield Local Centre, who brought music, energy and plenty of encouragement to the start line.

The full route covered 120km, with experienced cyclists completing the entire journey from Kildare to Wexford. Along the way, additional participants joined at Grange GAA and Ferns GAA clubs along the route. The cycling group brought together Xeinadin employees, family members, friends, Kare Recreation Officers, Maria and Eamon, and members of Bush Cycling Club.

Bush Cycling Club played a particularly important role in the success of the event, generously giving their time and expertise to assist with route planning, logistics and coordination, as well as taking part in the cycle itself. Their experience and support proved invaluable in helping the day run smoothly.

With Xeinadin Ireland covering the event costs and generous sponsorship from clients, every cent raised goes directly to KARE and It’s Good 2 Talk. The success of the charity cycle was celebrated on Thursday, October 22, with a special cheque presentation at KARE Moorefield Local Services in Newbridge.

In a wonderful occasion for everyone involved, Pat Sutton, Managing Partner of Xeinadin Kildare and a member of Bush Cycling Club, was joined by Patricia Murphy of Xeinadin Kildare, whose son Eoin attends KARE, to proudly present a cheque for an incredible €14,162.50 to KARE CEO Margaret O’Neill.

Knowing the donation was dedicated to Moorefield Local Services, Manager Niamh Byrne invited service users to share their thoughts on what would make the biggest difference, placing them at the heart of the decision-making process.

The generous donation recognises the invaluable work carried out by KARE in supporting people with intellectual disabilities and their families and highlights the positive impact that local businesses and communities can make when they come together.

Beyond the fundraising, the cycle provided a wonderful opportunity to bring together colleagues from across Xeinadin, along with family, friends and members of the wider community, in a fantastic display of teamwork, generosity and community spirit. The success of the inaugural event was made possible by the combined efforts of the cyclists, organisers, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, each of whom played an important part in making the day one to remember.

With its first charity cycle proving such a success, Xeinadin Ireland hopes to build on the initiative in the years ahead, establishing it as an annual event that brings people together while making a positive difference in local communities.
