New members always welcome as new season about to commence

Newbridge Hockey Club return to action

Enjoying the fun at Newbridge Hockey Club

Newbridge Hockey Club are back and raring to go for another season starting with pre-season training which got under way last week.

With the club growing in size from year to year there’s no reason why the 2016-2017 season will be any different.

As always the players, both junior and senior, are at the heart of the club which currently have one senior ladies team in Leinster, and a junior section of over 200 children ranging from u8 – u16s.

Newbridge Hockey Club's long term term vision is to bring high level hockey to Newbridge, firstly through its own club (improving underage hockey whilst exploiting the talent in the club through involvement at Leinster, Irish and Interpro Level) and secondly while providing facilities for Irish and Interprovincial training and competitions.

The spread of hockey is very much dependant on premier games for viewing and attracting young players. It’s not all serious though, these girls really like to enjoy themselves and insist on there being a core element of fun around the hockey that they play.

Newbridge Hockey Club always invite and encourage new members and the  aim is to make playing hockey as enjoyable as possible while developing players to the best of their ability.

The club welcome all abilities at the club whether just taking up the sport for the first time or are experienced players. Off the pitch we enjoy a vibrant social scene, with club nights, junior fun days and fundraisers.

Training takes place every Monday and Wednesday night 7.30-9pm on the astro pitch in Naas Sports Centre.  Pre-season training will take place in Newbridge College Astro Pitch and we will then move to Naas Sports Centre once the season begins.

Owen O'Leary is making a return to the coaching staff heading the first team whle Gary Ruddock will oversee skills and games development, while local trainer Philly Kinsella is heading up the strength and conditioning side of things.
