The death has occured of Michael Sheeran, a former editor of the Leinster Leader from 1997 to 2007.
Mr. Sheeran (62) passed away late on Monday evening, February 18, following a short illness.
From Kill originally, in more recent times he lived in Derrinturn.
Mr. Sheeran spent his working life in newspapers, in such publications as the Kerryman and the Irish Press.
He was the original sports editor of the Irish Daily Star before moving to the Leinster Leader just in time to witness Kildare’s appearance in an All-Ireland final - a proud day for a man who was as passionate about sport as he was about his home county.
He was a man of broad and varied interests, including local history and bog oak sculpture.
Since his retirement he had served as a judge for the Rehab People of the Year Awards.
