BREAKING: Gardaí recover firearm at Kildare housing estate

No arrests were made initially
Gardaí have recovered a pellet gun following a significant operation at a Kildare housing estate last night.
They are investigating "all of the circumstances surrounding an alleged incident of assault" which occurred in Sallins yesterday (May 7) evening.
Up to a dozen gardaí attended the scene of an alleged shooting incident in at the Castelfen estate, just off the Clane Road at around 9pm.
Two armed officers assigned to the Armed Response unit, which is based in Newbridge, were also present.
The exact nature of the incident remains unclear, but there was speculation in the area that a person received an injury after a pellet gun was discharged in the estate.
However, the gardaí said they have not received a complaint "at this time."
Gardaí sped to the scene in an array of vehicles with sirens and blue lights activated, travelling at speed along the Sallins Road.
An ambulance also arrived at the estate, not long after the gardaí got there.
Pellet guns, sometimes referred to as airsoft guns, are classified as realistic imitation firearms and in most cases require a licence.
