A €141k planning application has been lodged with Kildare County Council for the change of use of an existing building in Athy to apartments.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), application number 2660157 was submitted on February 24 2026 by Griffin Hawe Limited.

The application was with respect to a site address at 23 Duke Street, Athy R14 YY06, Co Kildare.
The scheme comprises of:

  • Change of use of existing ground floor front shop to part of proposed dwelling unit;

  • Demolition of existing rear shed and change of use of shed and outhouse on rear of ground floor to proposed dwelling unit;

  • Conversion of ground floor of no. 23 Duke St Street front and portion of rear return into a one-bed ground floor apartment;

  • Conversion of upper two floors of no. 23 Duke St Street front and part of first floor rear returns, into a three-bedroom dwelling unit;

  • Conversion and extension of remaining part of the rear return of ground and first floor into two two-bed duplex apartments;

  • Associated site works.
