A large housing development located in County Kildare has officially been launched today (November 20).
The development at Barracksfield West in Naas was launched by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD and was delivered by the Land Development Agency (LDA) alongside Kildare County Council (KCC).
Built by Andrews Construction, the 219 homes are a mix of terraced houses, duplexes and apartments.
Specifically, the full development includes 42 three-bed houses and 177 apartments and duplexes.
All Barracksfield West homes will be made available through an Affordable Purchase, Cost Rental or Social scheme.

DETAILS
The first phase of the development includes 42 three-bed houses, 12 two-bed duplexes and 12 one-bed apartments.
All of the three-bed houses will have gardens, while the apartments will feature balconies or terraces.
Barracksfield West is located on John Devoy Road to the southwest of Naas town centre. It also has easy access to the M7 and M9 motorways.
In addition, it is hoped that the completed development will include open communal areas, bicycle spaces and a crèche.
Speaking about the new development, Carmel Kelly, the Cathaoirleach of KCC said that Barracksfield West "will breathe new life into Naas town through its quality housing, amenities and excellent location".
"I would like to thank the Minister, the LDA and my fellow councillors and the executive team in KCC for making this project a reality," she added.
Minister Browne also welcomed the development: "These high quality, A-rated and affordable homes are evidence of what can be achieved by State-delivered housing for people across Ireland."
"Developments such as these are precisely what will be accelerated by the newly launched action plan," he asserted. "These homes represent the provision of stable, long-term accommodation options, offering security to those looking to either buy a home or secure a reliable rental property."
'THESE HOMES WILL MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE'
The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Kildare-based TD James Lawless, also welcomed the new homes, and expressed his view that the development shows "what can be achieved when local and national government work hand in hand to deliver for eligible home buyers".
"These homes will make a real difference in people’s lives, and I look forward to seeing the remaining homes completed and launched in 2026," he added.
Lastly, the Deputy Chief Executive of KCC, Annette Aspell, had this to say about the new homes: "We are all extremely proud of the quality of the homes and amenities that will make Barracksfield West a community that future residents will be proud to call home."
She also said: "By maximising our public land for residential development, we can bring new energy and life into strong communities like Naas."
Applications for the homes at Barracksfield West will be accepted via an online portal, which will go live on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10am.
The remaining 153 homes will be made available in 2026.
