Kildare County Council (KCC) has announced that it will officially take in charge a housing estate located in the town of Newbridge.
The move was confirmed at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Wednesday, November 19 last.
At this meeting, the councillors who attended were asked to consider the taking in charge of Beechmount estate in Newbridge.
KCC's report at the meeting noted that the MD's councillors were previously informed about the planned move.

After a brief discussion, the taking in charge process was proposed by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.
The agreement was welcomed by the Mayor of the MD, Fianna Fáil Cllr Noel Heavey, who referred to the development as "good news" for Newbridge.
Cllr Pender also told KCC that he wished to thank its employees who carried out works in the estate, and specifically praised the employees for consulting with the residents during the course of these works.
"They were absolutely fantastic," he added.
'A GREAT OUTCOME'
Following the meeting, Cllr Pender took to social media to further welcome the taking in charge agreement.
He said: "I have been delighted to work with residents and the council to progress the taking in charge of Beechmount.
"This has been a long process for the estate, and getting it over the line is a great outcome for everyone living there.
"The site resolution plan is now complete, the water networks have full approval, and the estate meets the standards needed for the council to take responsibility for the public areas."
Cllr Pender concluded by echoing his comments of gratitude at the meeting: "I want to thank the residents for their patience and engagement throughout this work and the staff in KCC for getting this across the line."
