More salt needed for Kildare roads this winter

There has been a call for Kildare County council to provide more salt bins for the forthcoming winter season.

Rathangan-based councillor Brian O'Loughlin has asked KCC to  commit to providing more bins.

He says these are needed throughout the county “following the freezing spells last winter.”

He also wants KCC to indicate the number of salt bins that will be deployed as well as where they will be located.

A mixture of grit and salt is spread on roads which salt only is used on footpaths.
