A County Kildare TD has announced her intention to board a protest flotilla heading to Gaza.
The video statement, which was posted on Instagram by Sinn Féin TD Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh, comes after a separate Gaza-bound flotilla carrying humanitarian aid and pro-Palestinian activists, including environmental activist Greta Thunberg, departed Barcelona yesterday (September 1 last).
In the description of the video, Deputy Ní Raghallaigh said: "A chairde, I am taking a few weeks annual leave from today to join the Global Sumud Flotilla.
"However my offices will continue to remain open as normal so please get in touch and my team will be there to help. Saoirse don Phalaistín [Freedom for Palestine as Gaeilge]."

In addition, in the video, Deputy Ní Raghallaigh claimed that she "knows what it means to resist colonial violence".
She also said that she was inspired to join the flotilla owing to her Republican beliefs, her experience as a parent and her experience as a teacher.
