Changes have been proposed for a Kildare-based café and chocolatier.

Butlers Chocolates is seeking planning permission from Kildare County Council (KCC) to make the changes to its café located at 5 North Main Street in Naas.

The development, if given the green light by KCC, would consist of "the construction of a new two-storey, detached, one-bedroom dwelling with a roof terrace at first floor level to the rear / side".

The applicant is also seeking permission from KCC for "all associated ancillary, landscaping and site developments works".

The date received on the application is listed as July 29 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as September 1, 2025 and September 22, 2025 respectively.

BACKGROUND ON BUTLERS CHOCOLATES

According to the official Butlers Chocolates website, the business originated in the Lad's Lane region of County Dublin.

It was founded in 1932 by Marian Butler, who named her luxury chocolate creations Chez Nous Chocolates.

The company was later rebranded to Butlers Chocolates in 1984, and opened its first retail outlet in 1989.

Today, the café has 28 branches throughout Ireland.
