A playground located in County Kildare will be temporarily closed next week in order to allow for upgrades.

Explaining the reason behind the closure, Kildare County Council (KCC) said that the temporary playground at the Bawnogues, Kilcock, will close on Monday, July 14, 2025.

KCC elaborated: "This closure is to facilitate the safe removal and relocation of equipment to the new purpose-built playground, currently under development, adjacent to the new community centre.

"The new Bawnogues Playground, which forms part of a wider project including a sensory and taste garden, is designed to offer a high-quality, inclusive, and accessible play environment for children of all ages and abilities."

KCC continued: "The project includes the reuse of existing equipment alongside the installation of new, sustainable, and inclusive play features."

"The new playground is scheduled to open in early September 2025, subject to weather and construction progress."

KCC concluded by saying that it "appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation" during this transition, and that it "looks forward to welcoming families to the new facility later this year".
