Kildare County Council (KCC) has been urged by a councillor to find a solution to sightline issues at one County Kildare junction needed.

The request was made by Labour Party Cllr Mark Leigh, who submitted a motion in relation to the matter during the latest Athy Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Monday, June 16 last.

His motion concerned the junction of the L8084 and the R417 in Athy. It was seconded by Fianna Fáil Cllr Veralouise Behan.

In response to Cllr Leight's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The MD office will investigate the matter and, in the interim, hedge cutting can improve sight lines."

A representative for KCC who was present at the meeting also reiterated to Cllr Leigh that KCC will investigate the matter further.

However, Cllr Behan told those in attendance that she believed that the design of the junction itself was more of an issue than the nearby hedges.
