A witness appeal has been launched by gardaí following a serious road traffic collision (RTC) which occurred in South Kildare yesterday (June 5 last).
The announcement follows after An Garda Síochána released a separate statement earlier this morning (June 6) which related to a fatal RTC in Newbridge, which also occurred yesterday.
Speaking about the incident, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision which occurred on the R415 at Boley Little, Athy, County Kildare yesterday, Thursday, June 5, 2025.
"Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and two motorcycles shortly after 7.30pm."
They continued: "One of the motorcyclists, a male in his 20s, was brought to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
"The second motorcyclist, a male in his 20s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise to be treated for injuries believed to be non life-threatening.
"There were no other injuries reported.
"The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct an examination of the scene. There are local diversions in place."
The spokesperson also said that gardaí are currently appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Athy Garda Station on (059) 863 4210, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station."
