The construction of a brand-new all-weather sports pitch has been proposed by a County Kildare secondary school.

A planning permission application currently with Kildare County Council (KCC) shows that the Board of Management of St Paul's Secondary School intends to construct the new pitch on its grounds in Moore Abbey Demesne, Monasterevin.

The description of the application notes that the Board wants to construct the pitch "for school and community use".

Permission is also being sought from KCC for: perimeter fencing, ball netting, six lighting columns and all associated site works.

The date received on the application is listed as May 19 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as June 22, 2025 and July 13, 2025 respectively.

According to its website, St Paul's Secondary School is a Catholic voluntary co-educational secondary school which is under the Trusteeship of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.
