Kildare County Council (KCC) was asked by a local councillor if it has plans to install lighting in Ard Ri, Athy.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Veralouise Behan asked KCC to confirm if it had plans to install lighting in the region at the latest Athy Municipal District meeting, which was held yesterday (Monday, April 14 last).

Explaining her query, Cllr Behan told KCC: "I would like to see something being done here, as it is a very busy area, and always has been."

She also claimed that the region has been "forgotten" in recent years.

In response to her query, KCC had this to say: "There are no current plans to install public lighting at this location.

"Any requests for public lighting should include a description of the issue and a location map showing the area of concern."

KCC added: "Following this, the request will be assessed and may be included in the KLIPS register [KCC's public lighting scheme] and prioritised subject to resources."

Cllr Behan thanked KCC for its report.
