A region in South Kildare is being examined for a potential wind farm development.
According to a planning permission application currently with Kildare County Council, Kilberry Wind Farm Designated Activity Company (DAC) is proposing to construct a wind monitoring mast in Kilberry Bog, Loughabor in Athy.
Specifically, the business is seeking permission for "the erection of a guyed wind monitoring mast 120 metres in height, with instruments, and all ancillary works necessary for its construction and maintenance, for a period of six years".
The application also notes that the purpose of the proposed mast is to assess "the suitability of the surrounding area for wind farm development".
The date received on the application is listed as April 4 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as May 8 and May 29 respectively.
Kilberry Wind Farm DAC was established in July of 2023, the business information website SoloCheck.ie shows.
It specialises in the production of electricity and has a registered address listed as Main Street, Newbridge, County Kildare.
Last month, it was reported that a series of public consultations would be held by Bord na Móna and SSE Renewables for Kilberry locals regarding the previously proposed Kilberry Wind Farm.
