A Brazilian guitarist is set to begin his tour of Ireland in Newbridge.

São Paulo-born artist Plínio Fernandes fuses classical guitar with Brazilian folk music, and plays everything from the works of Bach to vibrant Brazilian music.

He released his debut album, 'Saudade', in 2022, which hit number one on the Billboard Traditional Classical Albums Chart. Plínio's second album, 'Bacheando', was released in September 2023.

In addition, August 2024 saw him make his debut on both BBC Proms and the Lucerne Festival.

And that's not all — according to the organisers of the event at Music Network: "Plínio was named on Forbes Brazil’s 'Under 30' list, was selected as a Rising Star by Classic FM, and recently received the Revelação Award at the 30th Annual Prêmio da Música Brasileira.

"A passionate advocate for music education, Plínio was invited to join London Music Masters as an ambassador and is involved with performing, teaching and guiding young musicians in schools."

They added: "His polished sound, virtuosic technique, and innovation make him a must see for classical and Latin music fans alike; don’t miss this opportunity to hear such extraordinary talent."

On tour in Ireland from April 5 to April 13, Plínio will perform at venues in counties Kildare, Dublin, Galway, Clare, Wexford and Waterford.

Tickets priced from €5 to €25 (booking fees may apply).

Plínio's Newbridge gig will take place in the Riverbank Arts Centre on Saturday, April 5, 2025 and will commence at 7pm.
