10,000 coffee cups are dumped a day in this Kildare area

Kerdiffstown Park, near Naas

A tender will be issued for people interested in providing coffee/ food services at Kerdiffstown Park, Kildare’s newest recreation and amenity facility. This is likely to happen later this year.

A Naas Municipal District committee meeting was told by KCC official Simon Wallace that other priority works in the park will have to be completed first.

Local councillor Evie Sammon was told that a "weighting” in favour of a local service provider would not be possible under the terms of an open competition seeking tender offers.

Cllr Bill Clear said more sustainable practices should be encouraged when this service is unveiled - such as the use of “keep cups.”

He said some 10,000 coffee cups are dumped a day in the Naas area. He also said recycling must be promoted.

Kerdiffstown Park boasts an array of amenities, including two full-size all-weather sports pitches, three five a side pitches, several paths and walking trails,  ecological areas, vast open green space, a playground, visitor car parks and age friendly seating.
