Kildare woman falsely claimed to gardaí she was a knife crime victim

A woman who allegedly made a false report to gardaí, appeared before a sitting of Naas District Court.

It is being alleged that the 33 year old woman claimed she was the victim of an attempted robbery by a male with a knife.

She is being prosecuted for making a false report at Kilcullen garda station on February 2, 2024.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that as the gardaí investigated the claim the story unravelled.

Defending solicitor David Powderly said the defendant did not name anybody as the perpetrator.

Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the case to April 15.
