Roundabout demand for a Kildare road that's 'a risk to life'

A roundabout needs to be built on a road that has been the scene of multiple motor accidents.

The road at Beggars End on the Naas-Blessington route has five junctions and Naas mayor Fintan Brett said another accident took place there on February 10.

The councillor has made many calls for safety to be improved there.

“Not a week goes by that I don’t get a call about it,” he told a Naas Municipal District committee meeting.

He said older people are putting their lives at risk by using the junction.

Cllr Brett added that there is room for a roundabout to be built in the Punchestown Racecourse side of the road which would alleviate the problem.
