Work on a new residential area in Naas is not to blame for water gathering at a neighbouring estate.
A request for Kildare County Council to review the planning file and the effectiveness of attenuation tanks at Stonehaven was made by Labour Party councillor Anne Breen.

Attenuation tanks are used to gather water in times of heavy rainfall to ensure that it is redistributed evenly into water courses. This reduces the risk of flooding.
Cllr Breen told a municipal district committee meeting she was concerned about “the recent severe flooding at the adjacent Mountain View estate at Blessington Road" and asked if KCC had “considered the impact of flooding at nearby housing estates like Mountain View.”
According to KCC, work at Stonehaven ensured that the flood plain there was designed not to have any negative effect or impact on the neighbouring properties.
KCC added that Stonehaven is still under construction and there are outstanding works relating to the construction and completion of attenuation and drainage features which form part of the overall drainage network.
It added it will continue to monitor the works as construction continues.
