KILDARE: Banned from driving after crashing into barrier on the N7

A man was prosecuted after a road accident on the N7 near Kill.
Before Naas District Court was Michael O’Dea, 40, whose address was given as 7 Cairnwood Avenue, Tallaght, who was prosecuted for dangerous driving on July 4, 2021.
Garda Deirdre Barry told the court that she was dealing with another incident when the accident took place about 100 metres away.
She said that several people complained about the defendant’s driving.
She also said that a lot of rain had fallen and there was water on the road surface, creating hazardous conditions.
She said it was claimed that the defendant was weaving in and out of traffic and at one strange was on the hard shoulder before he aquaplaned and hit a barrier.
Garda Barry said noone was injured in the collision.
She said the defendant had driven from Ballymany, Newbridge.
Garda Barry also said he was cooperative and was concerned about the child who accompanied him.
Solicitor Tim Kennelly said the defendant was accompanied by his daughter and he is disgusted at his behaviour.
He said his client has chronic ADHD and is now seeing a professional who is assisting him.
“He doesn’t know why he did it,” said Mr Kennelly.
Judge Michele Finan imposed a fine of €500 and disqualified him for two years.
