Aldi hands out grants to 12 local community groups in Kildare

A total of 12 Kildare charities have received donations as part of Aldi’s Community Grants Programme across the last 12 months.

The programme has seen Aldi donate a total of €6,500 to charities across Kildare who provide vital services and make a huge difference within their community.

The Irish Cancer Society, The Main Street Food Bank Naas, Ash Animal Rescue, The Kildare Town Men’s Shed, The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, CMRF Crumlin, Gheel Autism Services, Special Days of Flying, 5th Kildare Athy Scout Group, St Raphael’s School, The Irish Wheelchair Association Clane each benefitted from a donation from one or more of Aldi’s eight Kildare stores and its Naas Regional Distribution Centre.

Aldi’s Community Grants programme helps fund local charities and organisations that contribute vital work and services in their local communities. Each local charity supported is chosen by Aldi employees, enabling them to help the local good causes they are passionate about.  

Over €250,000 has been donated to more than 340 different local charities across Ireland since the programme began four years ago. To mark its 20th anniversary in Ireland in 2019, Aldi staff across its Naas and Mitchelstown regions also voted for two charities, The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul and Pieta House Cork, to receive a further €5,000 in Aldi vouchers late last year.

Aldi’s eight Kildare stores are deeply involved in their local community.  Through its partnership with FoodCloud, its Kildare stores have donated over 55,300 meals to local charities to date. Since 2015, Aldi has helped support initiatives including the Aldi Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards and the Aldi Foróige Junior Baking Competition.
