An outgoing Kildare County Council (KCC) official was thanked for her service at the most recent Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting on Wednesday, September 17 last.

Brenda Cuddy, who was the Senior Executive Engineer for the MD, will be leaving KCC for Laois County Council (LCC).

According to her LinkedIn profile, she first joined KCC back in March of 2013.

A number of councillors paid tribute to Ms Cuddy and congratulated her on securing her new role with LCC.

She was first congratulated by KCC’s finance, digital services, innovation and governance manager, Eileen Hanlon, who said that KCC "will miss her terribly".

Ms Cuddy was also commended by the Mayor of the MD, Fianna Fáil Cllr Noel Heavey, who complimented her on being a "very professional" individual.

In addition, Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer said: "When we think of Brenda, we think of delivery; she is a force to be reckoned with."

Cllr O’Dwyer also echoed Ms Hanlon’s sentiments by saying that her moving to LCC would be "a massive loss" to the MD.

She added: "You will not be forgotten; thank you for all you have done."

Fianna Fáil Cllr Suzanne Doyle then commended Ms Cuddy, referring to her as "a stellar example of competency".

Independent Cllr Tom McDonnell also echoed Mayor Heavey’s comments, calling Ms Cuddy "very professional" and claimed that she "probably had the most difficult job in the council".

Fine Gael Cllr Kevin also joked: "A lot of roads in Laois cross over into Kildare, so any help would be appreciated!"

Following the tributes, Ms Cuddy told those in attendance that she "loved" her years with KCC and added that KCC "has to been super to work for".

She concluded by thanking the members for their tributes, which prompted a round of applause.
