Kildare County Council (KCC) has provided an update on the progress being made to provide a new fire station for Monasterevin.

The update was provided to Sinn Féin councillor Noel Connolly at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which was held on Wednesday, September 17 last (Cllr Connolly was the local representative who asked about a potential update at this meeting).

In response to his query, KCC said via the report it provided at the meeting: "The fire service has sourced a new site for a new fire station in Monasterevin.

"The site is located on the Dublin Road, near to the location of a previously agreed site.

"We will shortly engage the services of an independent valuer and solicitor to progress this purchase."

KCC also told Cllr Connolly that the fire service has also written to the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management requesting to be considered for inclusion on the next round of capital funding.

Cllr Connolly replied that he accepted KCC's report.
