Two car theft incidents which both took place on the same date are being investigated by gardaí based in County Kildare.

According to Garda Brian Carroll of Newbridge Garda Station, who discussed both crimes on KFM earlier today (April 30), the incidents both took place on April 27 last.

Gda Carroll said that the first incident took place sometime between 4.30am and 8.30am in the Gallows Hill Way region of Athy, and involved the theft of a red Mazda Demio car.

He also read out the registration plate of the vehicle: 09D-124-338.

Gda Carroll also said that gardaí based in Athy are probing the crime.

Regarding the second incident, he said that it took place at around 6am in the Crockanure Avenue region of Kildare town, and this involved a silver Mazda Demio car.

He also read out the registration plate of this vehicle: 08D-123-795.

Lastly, Gda Carroll said that gardaí in Kildare town are investigating this crime, and have obtained CCTV footage of the theft, which showed a "small, red vehicle" pulling up beside the stolen car and also showed both cars heading towards the direction of the Rathangan road.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the two incidents, a garda spokesperson responded to both queries.

For the Athy incident, they said: "Gardaí are investigating an unauthorized taking of a car that occurred on Sunday, April 27, in Athy, County Kildare between 4am and 8am.

"No arrests have been made.

"Investigations are ongoing."

For the Kildare town crime, the same spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an unauthorized taking of car that occurred on Sunday, April 27, 2025 in Kildare town at approximately 6am."
