A group of men caused around €40,000 worth of damages to a South Kildare business after they broke into the premises.

The incident was highlighted by Garda Brian Carroll of Newbridge Garda Station, who appeared on KFM earlier today (April 30).

According to Gda Carroll, CCTV footage seen by An Garda Síochána (AGS) showed a group of men breaking into the Bord na Móna premises located in Kilberry, Athy, sometime between 12am and 4.30pm on April 24 last.

The perpetrators fled the scene in two separate cars shortly after illegally removing some copper wire from the premises.

Gda Carroll added that, as a result of their actions, the perpetrators caused around €40,000 worth of damages.

Lastly, he said that anyone with information about this crime can contact Athy Garda Station on 059 863 4210.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a spokesperson for AGS had this to say: "Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred at property in Kilberry, Athy, County Kildare on April 25, 2025 at approximately 12am.

"A number of items were taken from the property."

The spokesperson added that no arrests have been made yet and emphasised that investigations by AGS are ongoing at present.
