The Probation Act was applied by a Naas District Court judge in the case of a man involved in a pub incident.
Jason Connolly, with an address listed as 1227 St Moling’s Way, Timolin, Ballitore, appeared in front of Judge Zaidan on Thursday, September 12 last, in relation to the offence.
The 38-year-old appeared via video-link as he is currently in custody on other matters.
Gardaí said that the Mr Connolly was involved in an argument which resulted in a 'physical altercation' at a pub in Ballitore on May 19 last.
He was charged with Section 2 assault and a public order offence.
No injuries were reported, and it was heard that Mr Connolly pleaded guilty to the offence.
Judge Zaidan was told that Mr Connolly has seven previous convictions, including one in relation to an assault causing harm offence dating back to 2022.
INJURED PARTY 'NOT CO-OPERATING WITH GARDAÍ'
Garda Sergeant David Hanrahan told the judge that the injured party could not be contacted, as they were 'not co-operating with gardaí' in relation to the case.
Judge Zaidan decided to impose the Probation Act on Mr Connolly’s case.
