Last May, KARE had the pleasure of presenting qualifications to the latest group of participants in their Intellectual Disability Support Programme (IDSP) at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge.
This occasion marks a significant milestone for the programme, which has been in operation for an impressive 25 years.
KARE CEO Deirdre Murphy said; “With the invaluable support of Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB), our LTI training programme prepares participants to excel in the intellectual disability sector.
“This partnership enables us to cultivate exceptional staff, strengthening our workforce and advancing our mission to support individuals with intellectual disabilities.”
The programme was initially designed by KELT as a two-year pilot initiative to train people in rural areas to act as job coaches in their local communities. Over the years, the programme has evolved to become a renowned provider of the QQI level 5 Major Award in Intellectual Disability Practice, making KARE in partnership with KWETB a unique provider of this training in the country.
With a 91% progression rate into employment this programme has been instrumental in developing skilled professionals who are equipped to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in various settings. These dedicated professionals play a vital role in promoting independence, inclusivity, and empowerment for people with intellectual disabilities.
“As we celebrate this significant milestone, we are already looking forward to the next cohort of learners who will embark on this journey. If you are interested in applying for this year’s programme starting in September 2024, you can register your interest by visiting our website at www.kare.ie,” said KARE.
“We look forward to many more years of providing high-quality training and education to those seeking to make a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.”
