STATUS OF NEWBRIDGE MACHINERY YARD HEARD

Kildare County Council (KCC) has confirmed the status of Newbridge Machinery Yard.

Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender asked KCC to confirm the Yard's status at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting.

KCC told Cllr Pender: "The construction of the new Machinery Yard is nearing completion with a phased transfer from the existing property expected to be completed by Quarter 3 2024.

"It was originally envisaged that the existing site would be sold to offset some of the costs of the new yard, however, given the central location of the site and the need for community services in Newbridge this decision is being revisited by Management Team."

"The Members will be updated when a final decision is made," KCC concluded.

OVERGROWN VEGETATION

Fine Gael Cllr Paddy Curran motioned for KCC to cut back any overgrown vegetation in the back lane of Bishopsland, Kildare.

In response, KCC told him that, at present, there is no budget to carry out works at this locations.

NO PLANS FOR ROAD

There are no plans by KCC to carry out maintenance works on the L7020, Cherryville, Kildare.

The request was made by Fianna Fáil Cllr Anne Connolly.

According to KCC: "The roads programme budget for 2024 is fully allocated, and there are no plans at present to include this road."

WORKS HAVE COMMENCED

Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender motioned for KCC to prioritise footpath upgrade and works at Scoil Bride, Athgarvan.

KCC replied to his request with the following answer: "These works have commenced on site, including footpath, drainage, junction and road surface improvement."

BARONSTOWN LANE IN MILLTOWN

Fianna Fáil Cllr Anne Connolly motioned for KCC to 'carry out essential maintenance/restoration works on Baronstown Lane, Milltown as a matter of urgency.'

KCC told her in response: "The MD office agree to include this location in our routine maintenance schedule."

EXTENSION OF TIME

Sinn Féin Cllr Noel Connolly asked KCC about progress is being made with the regeneration of St Patricks Park, Rathangan.

In response, KCC told Cllr Connolly: "The tender for St Patrick’s Park was uploaded to e-tenders 22 March 2024.

"Following a request from a number of tenderers to extend the period to price the tender, an Extension of Time for the return date has been extended to May 13, 2024."

"We expect to commence the assessment process following this date," KCC added.

KCC 'AWARE OF ISSUES'

Issues with St Conleth's footbridge in Newbridge were flagged to KCC by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer.

KCC replied to her by saying: "KCC's Transport Department are aware of the surface issues at this location and are reviewing the most appropriate response."
